FIPS UNDERCOVER PART II: Target Atlantic Center Mall [An Abortion of Retail]

.

This is part two of our four part series in which we attempt to uncover, once and for all, why the hell Target at the Atlantic Center Mall sucks a big dick.

ICYMI, Here's part one.

For those who might be wondering (cause we read your comments like we were studying for an exam): yes, we are all pompous, yuppie, assholes. But that has fuck all to do with how deeply and profoundly this Target sux.

We returned to Tarjay this past weekend (same time, same place), for another afternoon of fun.

Again, please note: we have not manipulated or "reused" video in any way here (except to blur out faces). This place actually sucks this hard.

Stay tuned for part 3 next week.

This is even better than the first one. I was just in Target today and things still look the joint was looted.

Keep up the good work, FIPS!

Tarjay/Tarzhay - a fancy-pants, pristine Target store in a nice neighborhood.

Target - a run-of-the-mill Target store in Everytown, USA.

Targhetto - a Target that makes K-Mart look like Nordstrom.

I've shopped there once, and I briefly regretted moving to Park Slope. This is no Tarjay.

But now now. You didn't move to Park Slope for the.. Target... did you?

January 12, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterShaun

shame. i would blame the recession but i've heard people complaining about this store for over a year!

January 13, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

It has to be the NYC region Target management - for comparison, I advise you to visit the Queens Blvd Target - which is not this bad (shopped in both), but is still saddled with weak staff and messy stores. However I suspect that most folks in NYC visit that store (so very very busy). Also, take a look at the more suburban-style Target in College Point. That will be a more balanced approach.

Finally, I used to live in Chicago, which has 10 Targets for a city of less than 3 million. They were out of stock a lot too, but NOTHING compared to the crappy NYC stores. The video would be more powerful if you made comparisons to other NYC stores and other urbanized cities.

Dear Mr. FIPS:

You have truly outlived your usefulness. What does anyone in the world (besides you) care about the Target in Atlantic Center? Like I, and so many other commenters have said, your undercover operation is like discovering that the Pope is a Roman Catholic. Few of us would even think of shopping at this Target.
You waste your time and your bandwidth by providing this "service."

Move on. Get over it. You're losing readers rapidly.

I have to disagree with the anons.. the video is freakin' hilarious. Y'all missed the point.

January 13, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterhaikusue

@haikusue: As a proud anonymous, I didn't miss the point. I just find the point intensely irrelevant.

January 13, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Ok, fair enough anon 1:05. However, you also don't need to rep as if you are speaking for the blog's entire readership at large. Have you ever been to that Target? Cause I have, and I think its pretty outrageous that no one has ever called them out like this before. For me, the point is: this store needs to get their shit together...and most of the commenters agreed.

anon 12:25 = Target's East Coast SVP of Marketing

@anonymous 1:18
call them out on this? why? do they owe you anything?
in my business, we vote with our feet: if we don't get what we need from one vendor, we take our business elsewhere. It's not as if Target is the only game in town. Other commenters have echoed this sentiment: as a Park Slope blog, why not buy locally? Or buy from target.com, kohls.com, kmart.com, amazon.com...etc. There are a zillion other sources for the cheap knick-knacks you can get at Target.

EVERYTHING IN AND AROUND ATLANTIC CENTER IS A ROTTING SKANK RAT ABORTION MADE OUT OF AIDS.

Case in point:

I went to the Circuit City last week. Poorly stocked, dirty, annoying sales staff. TOTAL CLUSTERFUCK.

Best Buy was worse.

Don't even get me farted on that P.C. Richard and sons across the street. I don't have a bag of dicks big enough for all the dicks Mr. Richard and every one of his sons can take a suck on.

You know what is sad: I ended up going to the Circuit City in Union Square, finding what I was looking for and had a friednly, helpful salesperson answer my quesitons and ring me up.

I've been to the Targhetto in question and find the videos on point.

Having lived in some pretty "shitty" areas myself , i think this is common as most lower income (ie: "minority") neighborhoods. Thats why we call them "Ghettos". Right!?

It's funny that the rich fucks start bitching about the shitty hoods when they start to gentrify the area! same olds same old shit... pretty cliche'

To add to this empty mess...about a week ago I went to this Target to be AMAZED to see in a food isle...a DEAD Flat-Squished Bloody mouse in the middle of the isle !!! I almost puked. I saw two workers one of which looked like a manager & I told them to go clean it up. I didn't stick around to see how long it took them.

January 13, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I go to this target every so often as it's right down the street form me and everytime I leave empty handed wondering why i went there. This is pretty on point and all i could do was laugh while watching it. I've never been to another target like this. All the ones in LA, the shelves are full - as is others I've been to in other states.

I'm glad someone is talking about it because I've often wondered how we can get them to pay attention. It seems to be working cuz an NBC site has even picked up now http://www.nbcnewyork.com/around_town/shopping/How-Bad-Does-Atlantic-Terminals-Target-Suck.html" REL="nofollow">look

Thanks for doing these and can't wait to see the next one! Maybe Target will pay attention. I usually support the local mom and pop shops, but sometimes it's nice to be able to walk down the street to Target and get stuff the local shops don't carry.

January 14, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

This video is on point. It took them three weeks to get a garbage pale in stock. All i wanted was a damn garbage pale!! But this place is always messy, always empty, and the lines!! You are always on line for at least 20-30 minutes! It's totally unnecessary! Open up more goddamn registers! geeze!
