[WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER AT...] Miriam

WHAT YOU SHOULD ORDER AT... is a recurring column designed in kind for your opinionated asses and our lazy asses.  We're going to pick one Park Slope resto a week and recommend our favorite dish at each.  Are we right?  Are we wrong?  YOU KNOW YOU WANNA WEIGH IN.

Chickpeas! Schwarmamamama! Tahini!

Amid all of the pizza places and Thai joints in this neighborhood, Miriam (79 Fifth Ave at Prospect Pl, 718-622-2250) is a solid choice for good Middle Eastern food.

To start, order off of their Meze Menu.  They have a bunch of delicious small bites on offer for only $3—you can't go wrong with the homemade hummus, the spicy calamari, or the Burekas (pictured above), which are fluffy puff pastry pockets stuffed with roasted peppers, feta, eggplant, basil, and served with a trio of dipping sauces.

If you're really hungry, stay on board the appetizer train and get the Grilled Haloumi Cheese & Artichoke Salad ($8).  A bed of baby arugala is topped with mushrooms, walnuts, string beans, artichoke hearts, and thick slab of grilled haloumi cheese.  Finished with a walnut vinaigrette, it's the perfect starter if you're not lactose-intolerant.

For your main course, order the Chicken Schwarmamamamama ($16)—grilled chicken, sauteed spinach, crispy pita, mango chutney, and green tahini.

What's the best thing you've ever ordered at Miriam?
