Send Your Christmas Trees Off to the Farm at the Prospect Park Mulchfest
Since most people put their Christmas trees up shortly after Thanksgiving, by the start of the new year they're often dry, brittle and shed like Persian cats.
If you're looking to get rid of your holiday tree, you can toss it out on the sidewalk for trash pick-up, but this is Park Slope -- the neighborhood of recycle-mania -- so if you want to repurpose your dejected trees, consider bringing them to Prospect Park so they can get tossed in a mulcher, Fargo-style.
Mulchfest, co-sponsored by the Prospect Park Alliance and Park Slope Civic Council, takes place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two entrances to the park: Third Street and Prospect Park West, and Park Circle at Prospect Park Southwest and Parkside Avenues.
