Why do you live in the Hudson Valley? I moved to the Hudson Valley 20 years ago from the city, thinking I would be back in about two weeks.  So much for that!  I live in The Town of Ulster on the Hudson River, which is really part of Kingston. I live on a dirt road that feels like the middle of nowhere, but in 10 minutes can be in “Uptown” Kingston, which is walkable to so much. 

Why the hell should someone who lives in Brooklyn move to the Hudson Valley? Kingston is often called “Brooklyn on the Hudson” and I get so many clients from Brooklyn looking at property here and blown away by the value and prices of things.  It offers a bit of everything.  Some NYC buyers want to find that great classic Hudson Valley rustic remote getaway in Woodstock or Stone Ridge, and other buyers are happy with a big Victorian home in the middle of Kingston with plenty of a social “scene.”

Yeah, what else? It's totally gay friendly.  New Paltz became world famous in 2004 when its mayor—Jason West—started to marry gay people, it all opened the area to a whole new group of gay second home buyers. They've built a fantastic community.
