Pranked in Park Slope
While catching up on some DVR this weekend, I found myself laughing my ass off at a show called Betty White's Off Their Rockers. It's a new hidden-camera prank show from NBC, with old people serving as the pranksters, and the rest of us as their unsuspecting victims. Betty White hosts and executive produces.
Most of the action takes place in Los Angeles. But about halfway through the episode, I caught this above scene, shot in our very own Park Slope (9th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue, to be exact)! That's right, Betty White's old fogies are walking the streets of the Slope, wreaking havoc on our sorry asses. Here are some more screen shots:
In the above scene an old lady explained to this kind Park Sloper that her husband sent her dirty text messages, but didn't know what they meant. "Do you know what a Boston Tea Party is?" she asks. "How 'bout a Connie Francis?" The results are pretty funny. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a clip of just this part. But if you're curious, you can see part of the scene in the series preview below (at the 1:30 minute mark)...
... or the whole scene in the premiere episode below (at the 12 minute mark):
As of yet, NBC hasn't picked a date or time to air the rest of the series. The premiere episode was aired two weeks ago, to whet the appetite of viewers. But if I know anything about TV, it's that they wouldn't come all this way just to film one small prank in Park Slope. I'm guessing we'll see more of the neighborhood in future episodes.
Of course, if you're the lady in the video who was pranked (or anyone else who was pranked on the show), we'd love to talk to you. Contact us and let us know the scoop. Sure, Park Slope has been the subject of pranks in the past. But this one involves Betty White, which makes it way cooler.
