Park Slope "Outer-Borough Working Dad" Bill deBlasio Announces His Run for Mayor
On Sunday New York City Public Advocate Bill deBlasio announced he's running for mayor. Standing on the stoop of his Park Slope home with his wife Chirlane and impressively fro'ed son Danté by his side, deBlasio assured his supporters that he would be a "mayor for our neighborhoods."
Amongst cheers of "Bill" and "Yes we can" deBlasio vowed that he would "leave no New Yorker behind." He explained that his platform will be to mend the rift in the city Mayor Bloomberg created: the one where the rich are welcomed to drive up the cost of living and the other where the working class feel they're being priced out of their neighborhoods. According to the New York Times deBlasio said “Let’s be honest about where we are today: a city that in too many ways has become a tale of two cities, a place where City Hall too often has catered to the interests of the elite rather than the needs of everyday New Yorkers.”
I think we can all agree that sounds like a great platform, but can we just revisit how cool Danté is? I want this kid to the be the First Son of New York! Let's make this happen people.
