Park Slope Has Its Very Own Hip Hop Group
Well, sorta.
In the dregs of YouTube, we've discovered a very special gem of internet glory -- a song called "La Dee Da Dee" by a musical super group that goes by the name "Park Slope." Never heard of em'? Yeah, me neither. BUT this music video of what looks like their only "hit" (I use the word hit loosely), is pretty much exactly what happens in the day-to-day life of the average Slope citizen.
Alright, so maybe it's nothing like what really happens in Park Slope. I'm actually starting to doubt they've ever been to New York City for that matter, considering they are riding Segways while rapping. Let's break it down into a couple scenes that exemplify how un-Park Slope "Park Slope" actually is.
Here's a screen grab from the opening scene. If you replace the daisy duke-wearing video girls with mommies, this could actually be the construction in front of the Barclays Center (though there's no way that Slopers would like THAT much advertising on the side of anything. What an eyesore).
We may be into weird scooters, three-person wagon bikes and rollerblading in while wearing thongs over shorts down 7th avenue, but a Segway? C'mon. Also, riding on an open-air mode of transportation through the streets of any Chinatown is a terrible idea.
Then, I saw a cop writing a parking ticket and I was like...yeah, this is JUST like Park Slope! F*ck alternate side parking! Then she ripped her uniform off and started writhing against a car while making a duck face. Sigh.
I don't think this is one of the booths at Alchemy.
Just in case you missed it...this is Nikki Minaj, pre...everything. Just hanging out in a hallway, wearing business casual.
Wait...there's dog love in this video? This may be more like actual Park Slope than I thought.
If watching the Segway-choreographed dance scene in the last 30 seconds of this music video doesn't make your Monday a little better, I'm not sure what more we can do for you.
Park Slope 4 Lyfe.
