Introducing the winner of our most unreliable Brooklyn Bus: B61
Posted by: Roshow | Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 12:00AM
The B61 bus sucks. Here are the hard facts: The B61 bus is late 43% of the time. During rush hour, 42% of the buses are so crowded they don’t even stop, and 12% of the time two buses in a row don’t stop. If you are looking to travel between Park Slope and Red Hook the Ikea shuttle bus is actually not a bad idea.
The bus's unreliability is blamed on the death of the nearby B71 bus (budget cuts) and the temporarily-closed Smith/9th Street stop on the F/G due to construction. Councilmembers Brad Lander, Sara Gonzalez and Rep. Nydia Velazquez are urging the MTA to run more buses and get their shit together, to which the MTA responded, "We'll think about it."
Still, riding the New York City public bus system as a whole is like eating shit. Unless you’re into some seriously freaky, sadomasochistic lifestyle, the difference between a good experience and a bad experience is irrelevant because you’re still eating shit.
