Gone Drinkin': Park Slope Happy Hours

The snow has melted, the torrential rain has subsided, and the weather is GD beautiful up in NYC.  This is a good thing, mainly because I’ve been able to crawl out from underneath my crippling case of Seasonal Affective Disorder (it’s called SAD for a reason, people!).  I want to wear shirts without sleeves!  I want to drink in a courtyard!  I actually want to go out after work rather than heading immediately home to eat a block of cheddar cheese!  I want to LIVE, Park Slope!

So, where do I go with my new-found desire to interact with humans?

We’ve compiled a round-up of some of the best happy hour drink specials in Park Slope (WITH outdoor drinking areas)*, so you guys can get your drink on and maybe nail down a Spring fling or two.  Hey, it could happen, right?

*Some places, while they may have a great patio or good specials, have been eliminated because they suck when evaluated against all other criteria.  Deal.  

 

Place: Dram Shop 

Special: ½ price well drinks and draft beer, Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm

Patio: Truth be told, it’s kind of small and awkward, but if you get there early enough, you can snag a table and rule that shit all night.

Place: Loki

Special: $2 domestic bottles, $3 drafts, and $1 off of well drinks, Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm

Patio: Walk right past those ridiculous velvet couches and outside to their spacious patio area.  They have plenty of tables and chairs, and it’s secluded enough that you’re not watching 50 Arecibo cars whiz by.

Place: High Dive

Special: $1 off all drinks, daily, 3pm-8pm

Patio: About as spacious as Dram Shop’s (read: not spacious), but good enough if you get there early.  Bonus?  You can write lewd comments on the bathroom walls in rainbow-colored chalk. 

Place: Barrio

Special: 2 for 1 drinks Magarita Madness. Mondays, 4pm-10:30pm

Patio: DEAR GOD, 2 for 1 margaritas?  Oh, Barrio, I’m never gonna quit you.  It would be a little douchey to sit on their patio just for drinks and free chips and salsa, so why not get an order of guacamole while you’re at it?

Place: Bar Reis

Special: $1 off all drinks, daily, 5pm-8pm

Patio: Very few places can rival the Bar Reis backyard.  Walk through the alleyway from the bar directly into the back, where a two-level patio is outfitted with a mishmash of picnic tables, wicker couches, and old chairs.  The bar’s downstairs area opens up onto the patio, so you can make fun of someone sucking hard at pool, or still see the flatscreen TVs that always seem to be trained to AMC.  My favorite Bar Reis patio memory?  Sitting there and trying to smoke a cigarette through the wrong end because I was about 10,000 beers in.  A mouth full of tobacco?  Awesome.

Place: Park Slope Ale House

Special: $1 off of all drinks and $0.50 wings Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 4pm-7pm (same deal on Tuesday, but it extends to midnight)

Patio: Since the Ale House is off of 6^th Avenue, it’s actually very peaceful to sit on the patio (lit with colored Christmas lights) and have a beer or 7.  If you get hungry, you can get a cheeseburger and fries.  Score!
