Fucked in Park Slope Wants you to get unfucked on your student loan debt

Making interest-only payments toward student loan debt feels a lot like giving money to the mob each month, just to keep all my fingers. I cringe upon hearing the name "Sallie Mae," as I imagine her to be a Cruella de Vil-esque character that parades around her mansion, clad in a fur coat and a pair of Manolo Blahnik Swan heels, kicking puppies and rolling around in my tuition money. Part of me wishes I could go back in time and tell the 19 year-old Me to put down that application to private art school and reconsider a less costly state school that offered the same program. But I didn't. So here I am. Luckily, there are organizations out there who want to help us get rid of student loan depression debt.

Skillshare, a self-described "community marketplace to learn anything from anyone," is offering, in addition to their usual wide array of local classes, a chance to win $5,000 to put toward student loan debt.

"It’s clear education needs to transform," the organization says on their site, "which is why Skillshare’s mission is to democratize education and make it affordable and accessible to every single person on this planet."

Amen, Skillshare.
