Flatbush Is Getting A Makeover!
The stretch of Flatbush between Sterling and 8th avenue is a place where dreams go to die. Between the empty storefronts and the facade of The Dialysis center, whose sad, pale pink facade is reminscent of a bored vagina, the area is in need of a serious makeover. Lucky for us, one man is doing just that.
Here's Park Slope chatted with landlord Michael Pintchik, the man responsible for turning the stretch of Bergen where Bark Dogs and Bergen Street comics lie into a pretty sweet hang-out spot.
"We're turning it from worst into first," Michael tells HPS. "We're making it dramatically more walkable and interesting." The new addition will include a Weight Watchers and a restaurant, whose details were not revealed, but Michael did reveal that it'll be "Something everyone's familiar with, and that everyone will love." I love the idea of a great food joint going in, but Weight Watchers? That takes some of the cool out of it, for me.
Even the dialysis center is getting a makeover. The facade will be stripped away, additional stories added and new tenants brought in. No word on when this transformation is happening, but it will be nice to see that area become a lively strip again, like it was back in good ole' 1914.
