Despite Renovations, The Pavilion Remains a Shit Show

For those eager to catch the new Spiderman this past weekend (or for those straight men using Spidey as a disguise to sneak into Magic Mike), I hope you weren't totally surprised upon finding the Pavilion's "renovated" theaters looking like a dump.

Why oh why people are we still going to the Pavilion?!

Despite the trashing of those hellish purple seats and the promise of big renovations, a tipster recently sent us this less-than-desirable photo of a filthy theater (we also  double checked with our tipster; this was the state of the theater BEFORE the movie started and not after some rowdy crowd finished up). The following note was included:

I'm attaching a picture I took of the theater as we entered to watch Madagascar 3. It was filthy! And even if we could argue that patrons ought to clean up after themselves, bottom line is if the theater sells food, well they have to clean the mess. And they must have cheapened in the renovation, because it’s falling apart already! Taped screens, wiggly seats...I did contact them over their website, but never heard back from them.”

Maybe the theater was trying to match the "feel" of Madagascar by transforming it into an “urban jungle” of sorts. Authenticity totally sells in the Slope, right?

What's more likely is that the Pavilion gets a thrill in toying with the fragile hearts of Park Slope cinema lovers, because in equally uninspiring news, their online ticket purchasing system is still in shambles, as personally experienced by yours truly.  After buying a ticket on their bootlet ticket site, I was told by the manager that the show time appeared only in my head.  Upon asking for a refund the manager handed me a Magic Mike-esque wad of cash totalling $25. No credit card or proof of purchase necessary.  White girls are totally trustworthy, you guys.

Has ANYONE had a good experience at the Pavilion lately? Otherwise, how are they staying in business?!

Bueller?

Anyone?
