COFFEE WARS: Gorilla Coffee Is Suing The NYT AND Former Employees (!?)
If FIPS actually had a newsroom, shit would be POPPIN right about now, cause this anon tip is hotter than that sex scene in 9 1/2 weeks when Kim Bassinger and Mickey Rourke get it on in that abandoned alley in the rain: Gorilla Coffee has filed suit against the NYT, a NYT reporter and 8 former employees for participating "in the preparation and publication of (a) false, defamatory, malicious and libelous article (here it is)" that included a juicy staff email that claimed the workers were subjected to a "perpetually malicious, hostile, and demeaning work environment that was not only unhealthy, but also...unworkable."
The complaint goes on to say "that as a result of the false and injurious e-mail which was printed, published and circulated by NYT, the content of which was furnished by the individual defendants, with express and implied malice and with design and intent to injure Gorilla in its good name and reputation, Gorilla seeks punitive damages against all defendants, jointly and severally, for their egregious, wanton, reckless and negligent conduct, in a sum to be determined upon the trial of this action."
(and yes, we saw the ACTUAL official complaint with our own damn eyes).
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Gorilla Coffee is SUING THE NEW YORK FUCKING TIMES??!! Who sues the NYT?? (ANNND their former employees!?). Gotta say, I have no goddamned clue what really did or did not down there this summer, but that's a pretty BALLER (slash crazy?) move right there, Gorillz.
You can download a pdf of the complaint here if you actually want to read it.
