Brooklyn likely to miss out on cicada invasion

All that advance hype about the great cicada invasion of 2013, and there's been nary a sighting here in Park Slope (that we've heard of, anyway). I was out in New Jersey yesterday, and I could hear the swarm from a strip mall parking lot. That picture above? Two cicadas fucking in my sister's driveway. 

According to a cicada expert interviewed by New York Magazine's Daily Intelligencer,  90% of the cicadas have already emerged, so if we haven't seen them yet, we probably won't see them at all. I can't say I'm that disappointed.
