Brooklyn Brewery Brews a Beer For Lewis Skolnick

Photo via Brooklyn Brewery

Nerds sure do know how to party! Other than the scene where the Tri-Lambs perform that sweetass musical number in the first Revenge of the Nerds film, my fave scenes in the Nerds saga are the ones when the Tri-Lambs throw bitchin' parties where everyone gets wasted, Booger chases the babes around & we all have a hearty chuckle at the nerds' collective shenanigans.

As crazy as those parties were, could you imagine what they would've been like if, instead of having Milwaukee's Beast or some swill like that, they had a COMIC-THEMED BEER MADE JUST FOR NERDS?!!! Those parties would've been even more OFF THE CHIGGIDY-CHAIN!…well, they would've been as long as the nerds didn't nerd things up too much with nerd talk about said beer's nerdy superpowers.

So yeah...the nerds were born a few decades too early, because in the 20-12, there's now a beer that's made just for nerds & with the nerd seal-of-approval. With less than three weeks to go until NY Comic-Con, Brooklyn Brewery has teamed up with the seminal east coast nerd fest to brew a limited edition beer that they've dubbed "The Defender."

It’s a "hoppy amber IPA" that comes complete with a logo by Milton Glaser (of I ♥ NY fame) & a character drawn by some dude named Tony Millionaire. Apparently "The Defender" has come to "rescue us from the brewing Megaliths." Um, ok. The best part will be a few years from now, when another brewery has to design a nerd beer & an accompanying hero to defeat "The Defender," who has grown too large & powerful & totally turned to the dark side.

Brooklyn Brewery will be unleashing The Defender next Tuesday at the brewery. From there, it'll be available in a few bars--none of which are in Park Slope. WAH-WAH. If you feel like being a hero though, you can travel to Williamsburg/Greenpoint, Manhattan or Astoria to give it a taste. Check out the full list of bars here. NEEERRRRRRRRRDDDDSSSSSS!
