Basements flood with sewer water on Garfield Place

Yuck. After the crazy rains last Friday night, residents of the tony block of Garfield Place between 8th and Prospect Park West have been beset by sewer water flooding their basements. According to CBS New York:

City crews came out Friday and found no sewer problem. But after consistent complaints, came back Sunday night, checked again, and found a blockage. They solved the problem – until next time.

“I would say thank God it wasn’t checking my heart,” Rothstein said. “If they didn’t find the blockage the first time, there may not be a second time.”

Well, there's one reason to be happy you live in a third floor walk-up this week.
