Dog Found Tied to a Bench In Prospect Park.

It's been over two weeks since illustrator Gant Powell went for a jog in Prospect Park, and found a dog tied to a bench. He took him to Animal Kind Veterinary Hospital on 7th Avenue, where he discovered the dog's name was Bentley, thanks to the microchip his owners implanted. Despite going to the trouble of making sure their dog had a freaking microchip, the owners have not responded to Gant's repeated attempts to contact them. What. The. Fuck. Gant is caring for Bentley for the time being, but he is eager to find the dog a permanent home, as he wrote on his blog:
But I can’t have a dog right now. As much as I would love to keep him it wouldn’t be fair to him, and it would be irresponsible of me considering my current employment situation (recently fired, not quite freelancing). I’ve contacted Shawn Casey of animal rescue but they are currently full. If any one wants this friendly guy please let me know. You can email me at gantpowell@gmail.com. I will answer any questions you might have. Until then, we’re going to bop along and probably go on some jogs together. Also I’m going to fatten him up properly.
John Hodgman even re-blogged the post. And Lena Dunham and Neko Case both retweeted it. Gant says that Bentely is doing better every day, seems less and less anxious, and wants to eat and nap and play like a normal pet. So, if you've been thinking about adopting a dog, and you're interested in meeting Bentley, please contact Gant at gantpowell@gmail.com.
