Arecibo, Manny & The Battle Of The BK Car Services

photo: Edward KeatingNot sure how I missed this one, but NY Mag did a pretty killer profile on the livery cab industry, specifically profiling my fave car service and yours: Arecibo.
Throughout the story, they follow Manny, Arecidbo's 18-year-old (!) dispatcher who wields the ultimate power in deciding who gets what fares when. It's like a loud, curse filled ballet that that kid conducts, as a symphony of "WHERE ARE YOU?? 5 MINUTES" erupts around him on a nightly basis.
Oh, but wait!
3/4 of the way through the article, Manny (by now the ONLY reason I'm looking forward to calling Arecibo), after 2 years of kick-ass service, gets his ass fired for a retarded, completely overblown misundertanding.
WTF, Arecibo!?
Well, now Manny is working at Express 11 Car...the company he was falsely accused of sending a fare over to (and the one run by a former Arecibo dispatcher Ramon). So, now I feel kinda torn.
And in the meantime, we've started using this OTHER service that I'm really digging called Northlands (718-797-7100) (cars come quickly, are always clean, and drivers are nice).

It's allllll about Eastern car service! I <3 them! so nice, fast and reasonably priced. I gave up on Arecibo over a year ago.... they would constantly leave me hanging and I would have to call back numerous times asking where my car was..... fuck that, I'm an Eastern gal now!

I've never had a prob with Aricebo. The owner's sister (?) gave me a lift once, super nice woman with a great story about her family business.
Arecibo - my kids even call all livery service cars "Arecibos" y se hablan espanol para mi mama cuando ella visita NYC - its all good - all others have blown in my experience
Eastern bitches. If you don't know, you from Nebraska or some shit.
Arecibo has been seriously slacking as of late... 5 minutes! and then no cars...
7184996227 is my mantra. Once you go Eastern, you never go back.
