Applewood Has Bought The Farm

Photo via http://www.coloraddict.com

Don't worry, no one has died (that we know of).

David and Laura Shea, creators and co-owners of Applewood since 2004, have literally bought a farm and are moving their asses outta' NYC. In a letter sent to friends, and on the restaurant's website, the couple explains their new transition:

"After seven years of running the restaurant and getting to know a multitude of amazing farmers personally, we have decided that we want to move out of the city and try our city hands at country living. We have, quite literally, bought the farm, and are transitioning from restauranteurs to farmers."

This kind of life choice makes sense considering that, in addition to serving hormone and antibiotic-free poultry and wild fish, the couple butchers whole animals on-site. Applewood is probably the closest thing to a farm in Park Slope.

Don't worry -- Applewood isn't going anywhere. We just got word from David Shea that the restaurant will in fact remain open, and will continue to operate under the guidance of Chef Sam Sherman.
