Why The Pavilion Movie Theater Will So NOT 'Be A Palace Again'
Ok, so to catch all you btchz up:
- The Pavilion movie theater sucks a dizzle cause all their chairs are broke and they don't even have a real ticket machine. Oh and it's like allegedly Grand Central Station for bedbugs.
- The management wrote some note of apology to PSP recently, and explained that they're hoping to make renovations soon.
- FIPS did a special investigative report into the ownership of the theater, and predicted that renovations were probs not gonna happen cause their parent company, Cinedign, clearly doesn't give a shit.
- Renovations ARE happening, at least according to the Brooklyn Paper.
In fact, the Brooklyn Paper is claiming that the Pavilion is going to be a "movie palace" again.
Well I'm here to tell you why it's not.
"Five of the nine theaters have chairs dating back to the original renovation — and look it. In theater seven, for example, six of the 70 chairs are missing seatbacks or seats themselves, while at least a dozen more have rips or stains marring the purple cloth upholstery."
Right: so again...all the seats fucking suck.
Ok, well this is followed up by:
"Brunetti declined to reveal specific plans for the new seats. And he refused us access to his binder of fabric swatches.
Choosing the color scheme is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” said 23-year-old Brunetti, who later admitted that lime green and magenta are out."
Uhm, THEY'RE LOOKING AT FABRIC SWATCHES AGAIN??? AND CONSIDERING WHAT NEWWWW COLOR TO GET THE SEATS IN??
AYFKMWTS??
BLACK.
BLACK.
BLACK.
NOIR.
BLACK.
ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU NEVER GO BACK.
While I'm glad magenta and lime green are out, the fact that anyone is even still considering sky blue, cinnamon or lemon yellow for a motherfucking movie theater seat, makes me want to punch a baby.
MOVIE THEATER SEATS ARE BLACK! THAT'S IT!
Sheesh.
Do I have to do everything around here??
p.s. is there a battle brewing between Park Slope Patch and the Brooklyn Paper?
Check out the "update" to their post: Updated 12:18 am, February, 22 2011: Those bloggers at Park Slope Patch will complain that they "had it" first, but this story is based on our own coverage of the Pavilion, most recently on Feb. 4 in this classic piece: http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/34/6/dtg_pavilionletter_2011_2_11_bk.html.
