WHO GIVES A SHIT: BODEG-A-THON!

Even though people may call you the GAY Deli, I still <3 you.

Here at FIPS, we're big fans of singing about the unsung heroes of our hood.  Walking to the train on Friday's insanely beautiful morning, I stopped and thought about how much I lurve the nineteen billion places where I can stop and get coffee during my daily two block walk.  Which got me thinkin'--which is your ab-fab favorite little mini-mart around here?

I know Park Slope pretends we're better than places like Sunset Park and Bushwich (well, we are, but that's a separate issue entirely) and we act like we don't need nor use bodegas, but I certainly know I couldn't get by without my loves:

1) The G&Y Deli on Eighth Avenue at Windsor Place.  Gustavo and Yolanda, G and Y respectively, are the gems of this neighborhood.  Seriously.  Freakin' love 'em, even though they're always closed by the time I get home.

2) Royal Deli/Supermarket on Eighth Avenue at 15th Street.  Open stupid late, always have whatever ridiculous thing I need to eat at 11:30 on a Tuesday, and right on the way back from the Armory.

3) La Dolce Vita on Seventh Avenue at 15thish.  Only place near me that I've found caries Silk Light soymilk.  I could kiss that dude for indulging my obnoxiously picky diet, srsly.

So friends, as you get drunk hanging out next to your babies with beer from your mini-mart of choice, I want to know: Which little markets do you frequent at weird hours, and now that you stop to think, realize you couldn't get on without?
