What's *Really* Going Down On Seventh Ave

image via Park Slope Lens

The Real Deal real estate blog decided to forego a fucking drum circle and actually look into what the hell is going on with all the vacant storefronts on Seventh Ave.

They came up with some rather shitty intel:

"Indeed, a recent informal survey noted about 20 empty retail spaces either facing Seventh Avenue or just off it, which is an unusually high number, according to brokers, landlords, business owners, neighborhood officials and residents."

The article delves into the high rent issue and acknowledges that this is certainly at play, however, landlords claim that their property taxes are going up and up and so wtf are they supposed to do?

Interestingly enough, while Seventh Ave is drowing in store closings, Fifth Ave seems to be in its renaissance.

Anyway, the article goes on to look at each empty space along the ave and has some pretty juicy details on who charges what, which landlords are shitty (and not), who's in and who's out.
