What Prospect Park Needs: DOG CABANAS, OBVZ!
Awhile back we wrote about a cool new project from the Institute of Urban Design called By the City/For the City. Basically this is a crowdsourcing experiement where they are asking New Yorkers to share all of their best ideas for how they would actually design a better New York.
Well, the results are rolling in and we've sure got some doozies from Park Slope!
From IUD IfUD headquarters:
"We've had people suggest the creation of a car-free space at Grand Army Plaza, the employment of a herd of goats to "mow" the grass in Prospect Park, and the installation of doggie shower cabanas at the park's meadow in summer. Just to the north, someone suggested murals on the support columns of the Gowanus expressway so that people wouldn't "feel like they're living in the apocalypse when they have to cross underneath." As neighborhood clusters go, it's certainly one of the most colorful!
I'm willing to put all FIPS cred on the line in favor of this doggie cabana idea.
Ok, ppl...hop to it. You only have till April 30th to get in your nominations, and I'm counting on someone out there to top the "goat lawn mower" idea.
