Verizon Fios vs. Time Warner?
I recently came across this thread on Brooklynian by detour, who was looking for some advice on Fios vs. Time Warner in Park Slope.
As you all know cause I won't STFU about it, six months or so ago I switched from TW to Fios and yes ppl: that move has been L-I-F-E C-H-A-N-G-I-N-G. So much so that I wanted to, yet again, encourage ANY OF YOU BTCHZ who have the opp to do so to run, not walk over to the Fios Club and ditch TW like a bad rash.
My hatred for Time Warner has been well documented on this blog and others, as well as ALL over the Twitterverse. And in case you think Fios is paying me to write this, they are so not. I srsly wish they were, and encourage their marketing team to get right the fuck in touch with us regarding advertising, but these are my honest, ginuwine feelings of what life is like post Time Warner.
Here are a list of things that were common in my life when I was a Time Warner customer:
- Frequent internet outages for no reason. In fact, I would often get 11 different answers re: what was going on whenever I called to speak to customer service.
- Speaking of customer service, Time Warner's CS dept seemed to be staffed with people who hate their lives and their jobs more than they hate me (which is A LOT).
- Missed appts from installation techs with no explanation.
- A gigantic fucking bill every month.
Here are a list of things that are common in my life now that I've switched over to Fios:
- Lightning fast internet connection that has literally not gone down once since I switched over.
- E-mail and phone reminders regarding upcoming appointments. And these appts are KEPT, ppl.
- The nicest installation tech I ever met. Dude was having trouble with our Tivo and since it was a Friday and he was concerned about us being up-and-running over the weekend, he gave his MOTHERFUCKING CELL PHONE NUMBER in case anything went wrong. And no, I did not give him a blow job.
- Though our bill ain't small, it's still less than it was at Time Warner.
Now look: I get that Verizon is still a big company too, and I'm sure everything isn't rainbows and moonbeams over there all the time...but so far for me it has been.
And FYI, for those of you who are desperate to get FIOS up on your own damn flatscreen, they are working their way into Park Slope bit by bit and are starting off in the larger buildings, but over the next couple of years, they aim to be available to everyone.
So would I make the move again? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Fuck you Time Warner, right in your fucking face.
Any other Time Warner ex-pats out there? What say you about Verizon Fios?
