This Winter, Make Your Own Gingerbread Brownstone!
Happy holidays, FiPSTERS!
The Farm on Adderley has partnered up with Hottenanny Art House to hold gingerbread house-making workshops for the fine citizens here in Park Slope. There will be a total of three workshops happening on December 23: at 10AM, 11:30PM and 1PM. And since they're only using natural candies and dried fruits to decorate the houses, it's practically healthy for your kids! No corn syrup or artificial junk on these houses!
If you're thinking of signing up, you better do so sooner than later, as spots fill up fast. Here are a couple of ideas for Slope-centric Gingerbread creations (I don't actually expect your kids to make any of these things, but if they do...well...my hat would be off to you. Though, I don't actually wear hats. I mean, I like hats, I just don't really have a "hat face," you know?)
Anyway. Here we go:
1. Gingerbread Pink Brownstone. Now that Park Slope's Pepto-Bismol brownstone has been sold and painted brown, we need to replace it by buiding a gingerbread house and frosting it with delicious pink icing. But, since it's got to be all-natural, you'll need to color the icing with beet juice or something. Figure that out, and build one!
2. The Barclays Center. Bonus points if you make a little Barbra Streisand out of gingerbread and put her on stage in the arena.
3. The Mark Ravitz Drips Building. You'll need to get a propane torch to replicate the effects of the recent fire.
4. The New Park Slope Whole Foods You'll need to sign up for all three seatings at Hootenanny Art House, and even then, you might need to book into the follow-up session on the 27th in Ditmas Park at The Farm on Adderley. That's because you'll have to spend several years cleaning up your work surface before you can actually secure approval to begin construction. Don't expect to have your Gingerbread Whole Foods completed until sometime in 2014. On the other hand, once it's finally done, you'll have easier access to natural candies for subsequent gingerbread creations.
So, now that you're all excited about the possibilities, here's the info...
