the lesbians are taking over park slope (again)
For a long time, Park Slope had a reputation as being the land of the lesbians. Based on an informal survey of the singles scene I believed this reputation was vanishing. But fear not: 2010's census data is in, and it looks like lesbians outnumber gay men in the slope by about 82 couples. Here's the official data in a super cool (if not a little bit annoying to use) map, courtesy of WNYC News:
Of course, NY has more same-sex couples all around. A total of 32,972 households in NYC now include same-sex couples; a big increase from the 25,906 that was recorded back in 2000. Of that, 60% of the couples are male, and dominate in neighborhoods like Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Hells Kitchen, and Midtown. But here in the Slope, the sistas are doing it for themselves. You go girls.
