Thank You Park Slope...

So, it's the day after the day of all that thanks giving and I'm in the suburbs, which has me feeling thankful. Thankful that I live in Park Slope and not here.  Let's take a mo, shall we, to express our appreciation for our very own city's most livable hood (for a few more months, anyway).

I'll start: Thanks Park Slope

for the food coop in all its glory (even staying open on Thanksgiving and scheduling my shift for it EVERY GODDAMNED YEAR).

for holding a big rally in front of PS 321 last week to protest being mean to teachers.

for the dude that gives my kid free jewelry every Saturday at the flea market.

for feeling like more like an archetypal small town than actual small towns.

for being the Seattle of NYC.

for the overpriced, locally-grown Birkenstocks.

for ostentatiously tweedy bicycle tourists.

for the guys at Blue Apron and _________ (insert your own favorite village people here).

for schlubby people in need of hair dye and a gym.

for trying to bring fabulous back.

for Park Slope Parents (classifieds).

for off-leash hours.

for Prospect Park.

for the city's very best (and worst) population.

for not smoking.

for all the bagel and cellphone stores.

for the 78th not giving us stoop tickets (yet).

for John Turturro, Steve Buscemi and Norma.

for not making alternate side four days a week.

for Sweet Melissa's bread pudding.

for pretty buildings and even maybe Landmarks..

for keeping the property values too damn high.

for...

I'm running out of gratitude here; help me out.

By the way, grateful people are happier according to today's WSJ. And hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!!
