A FIPS ROUND-UP OF HAWT PARK SLOPE REAL ESTATE CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET

Let’s all take a minute to remember our dear friend Jimmy McMillan who once proclaimed that thou rent is “too damn high."

Preach on, Jimmy. Preach on.

For those of you who have yet to reevaluate your stance on suburbia and dining at the Olive Garden, and have instead decided to grin and bear the New York grind for another year, here is a round-up of current real estate you can expect to pay entirely too much for.

**PLACES FOR SALE**

1. 4-bedroom on 14th Street Street

Price: $3,350,000

Location: 467 14th Street (8th Ave & Prospect Park West)

Real Estate Agency: Real Direct

What it's like:  This historical landmark is porn for an architect or design enthusiast.  Recently renovated by its architect owner, it features a number of updated originals mixed with stunning new renovation. With 12-rooms, 4-bedrooms, fireplaces, a garage and more outdoor spaces you can count, this place just may be worth the price tag.

Why you might want this place: Because you’re a Harry Potter enthusiast and have been dying for a library ladder to access you custom double high kitchen cabinetry.

Why this place might suck: While it’s cool to boast your house as part of the “Park Slope Historic House Tour," we imagine the parade lines outside your front door would get old real fast. Just ask Sarah Jessica Parker.

3rd Street Townhouse On the market for $2.85M

Oh, what I wouldn't give to live on 3rd Street with those extra wide sidewalks and the beautiful trees that line them. A four-story, 2,476-square-foot townhouse with 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, two functional fireplaces, and a pergola located at 592 3rd Street (between 8th and PPW) has just been listed at $2.85 million, if you're in the market. You can check out Curbed for more pics, and decide whether or not you agree with them when they say that the facade of the building is a little odd (I think it is.)

Small tidbit: for a split second this place was listed at $28.5M, until someone got their head out of their butt and moved the comma to the right place.

A FiPS Round-up Of Hawt Park Slope Real Estate Currently on the Market

Not long ago I heard of a clearly made-up statistic that claims that the average New Yorker moves once every three months. While that may not be true, New Yorkers do have the tendency to move a lot more frequently than suburban folk. And you know what? Moving sucks. From the movers who decided your valuables weren’t worth wrapping, to the elevators (or staircases) that just won’t fit you new IKEA couch -- hope it came with a monkey! -- it's just a huge pain in the butt.

Whether it’s an expanding family or bed bugs, sometimes you just get the itch to move (and sometimes accompanying red bumps). As such, here’s a roundup of what’s currently available in Park Slope for the ballers and the couch surfers alike looking to find their new digs.

Price dropped on $25M Park Slope Mansion, still ridiculously expensive

Photo via Park Slope Stoop

Remember how the former Park Slope Montessori school on on 8th Avenue was on the market for $25M, and we were all like, "ERMERGHERD, it's even more expensive than the DUMBO clock tower triplex penthouse, which is -- to date -- the most expensive piece of real estate in Brooklyn!"

Remember that?

Well, after being on the market for only a month, the 9,788 square-foot building has been bumped down to only $18M! Lest you forget, the mansion comes with "a Tudor-style dining room, an Arts and Crafts library, and an 18th-century-style sitting room." Fancy. Before you go whipping out your checkbook and wondering if you're ready to drop Grandma's generous inheritance on a house, don't forget that you can lease that shit first to make sure you like it! If you've got $65,000/month you can rent it (and by "rent it," I mean "throw your money away, because what will you have to show for it?")

The Post Gives us a Peek Into Eugene Mirman's Duplex

Via the NY Post

If there are two things that we here at FiPS are obsessed with, it's comedy and real estate. So naturally we caught ourselves drooling like idiots when the Post ran an article featuring the living quarters of our favorite neighborhood comedian and Bob's Burgers voice actor, Eugene Mirman.

Located somewhere near 5th and Lincoln, Mirman's living quarters are made up of the top two floors of a four-story townhouse, which he describes as "about 1.000 square feet, including the outdoor space."

Here's a little snippet from the Post article:

"The first floor of the duplex has a large open living room and kitchen, along with the couple’s bedroom and the apartment’s sole bathroom. A woodburning fireplace, a wall of exposed brick and the overgrown leaves of an ivy-like plant that wrap around the staircase give the place a cozy, rustic feel."

You can read more about SLASH drool over the idea of living in your own Eugene Mirman duplex here.
