Sad News About The Sudden Closing of Parco -- RIP Alex Pozzan
We first heard something was up at Parco when we received this Tweet on Friday:
Then yesterday, we received an email from a Parco's regular:
Parco was a tiny hole in the wall on 7th ave between 14th and 15th st, but that doesn't mean we won't linger. Before the shop even opened at 7am, you could have a morning chat with its owner, Alex Pozzan, at Prospect Park while walking the dogs. For over a decade, the quiet Italian man provided homemade carrot dog biscuits to our very dog friendly neighborhood, and kept us coming back for more. Many coffee shops have cropped up on 7th, but none held a candle to this oldie. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Alex, who passed away late last week, and his very dedicated staff (who I might add, turned over slower than any other coffee shop I've been to). Here's hoping an Italian family member decides to keep the place going.
There was also this note on the storefront:
In addition to leaving behind a saddened community of regulars (and family and friends, of course), Mr. Pozzan's dog Luca is now in need of a new home. If interested, please email us at effedinparkslope at gmail dot com. Looks like a sweetie.
