R.I.P. Every Fucking Goose In Prospect Park

Eric Thayer for the NYTAs it turns out, that goose who got shot in the neck with an arrow a few weeks ago in Prospect Park had it pretty goddamned easy. At least he didn't get his ass herded into a makeshift goose concentration camp only to get gassed (oh wait...yes he did. He's dead too).

400 geese from Prospect Park also were also not so lucky.

From the NYT:

"Wildlife biologists and technicians had descended on the park Thursday morning and herded the birds into a fenced area. The biologists, working with the federal Agriculture Department, then packed the geese two or three to a crate and took them to a nearby building where they were gassed with lethal doses of carbon dioxide, Carol A. Bannerman, a spokeswoman, said."

Uhm, Heil Hitler Agriculture Deparement?

The geese were murdered because we're within 7 miles of Laguardia airport...and after the mishap with flight 1549 that landed in the Hudson after some Canadian bitches flew into its engine last summer, the directive has been: kill baby, kill.

This being Park Slope, of course, ppl have been none too pleased:

"Seth Kaplan, a teacher who lives two blocks from Prospect Park, said he was crushed when he heard what had happened. Mr. Kaplan, who spends nearly every day in the park, had recently circulated a video of the goslings."

If you're not already tearing up with a vision of baby geese marching off to their untimely deaths, here's one more tidbit: "The carcasses of the Prospect Park geese will be double-bagged and dumped in a landfill."

Happy Tuesday!
