Prospect Park Gateway May Soon Get Less Uglier

Or not, actually...as they don't even *have* to build this thing. But the Park Slope Civic Council chose a winner of that competition they launched to find a better, less ugly solution for those barricades in front of the park's entrance on 3rd Street.

Ta da!

Jordan Yamada and Zaharoto won with their stone Garden entry (see above).

Though, no offense to those winning dudes, but I think that runner-up #2, "3rd Street Arches" by Ivan Himanen, is way the hell cooler:

No word from the Civic Council if this winning design will actually be implemented, but you should all know that they very much look forward to "exploring it." If I had to make a guess, I'm pretty sure that "exploring it" is code word for doing nothing, but that's just me.
