Phish-o-Lution 2.0 [Welcome To Our New Life, Erica!!!!!!!]
I know it is early in the morning, but I had to set my alarm so that I could post this before Erica woke up. I'm so incredibly excited to be sharing this news with both the FIPS community and my wife all at the same time.
A little over a year ago, some of you might remember that I hijacked this blog for one magical, tye-dyed day, in my own attempt to cause a Phish-o-lution right here in Park Slope. While Erica and I love each other very much, Phish has always been a topic that we were not able to see eye-to-eye on, and by taking over PHIPS FIPS, I was truly hoping to bring us closer to a big picture understanding that Phish is way more than just a band to me...it's a way of life.
While my extreme attempt might not have worked out as I planned, I have arranged for something this time around that I'm predicting will obviously be the most epic adventure Erica and I will likely ever have in our own lifetimes, or any others: a 3 MONTH CROSS COUNTRY PHISH TOUR IN A VW BUS!!!
YES!
It feels so good to say this out loud! I've been planning this for so long, and to see the fruit of my efforts laid out in front of me like...I don't know...a fruit salad just feels so darn good!
The van that I have purchased (pictured above) has been adorned with fragrant, succulent flowers because Erica loves flowers and I think it will help her be more OK with the idea. At least that's what Teegan, the guy I bought the van from told me. Also I was hoping that it would distract her from the fact that instead of a bed, I have a futon mattress in the back, cause she really, really, hates futons.
Anyway.
The other news is that I SOLD OUR APARTMENT!!!!!
AWESOME, RIGHT?? [I KNOW!!]
It's pretty amazing that I could even get an offer in this sort of economy, but I found someone who was willing to buy our place for only like $50,000 less than what we bought it for, and so I thought: JUMP ON THAT SHIT, IMMEDIATELY.
I know some of you might be thinking that I could have jumped the gun on this whole apartment thing, but the truth of the matter is, I know Erica really well. And I'm guessing that after the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama; The Blossom Music Center Performance in Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and at the very latest, the Hershey Park Stadium performance in Hershey Park, PA, she's going to realize that driving around the country in a dirty, flower-covered van (with no bathroom), listening to the most amazing jam band to have ever jammed, under the blue skies that God almighty gave us, is not just a silly adventure: it's our new life.
I think I hear her her in the bathroom now, so I'm going to go. I'll try to update later once the surprise really hits her and the excitement dies down a bit.
Wish me luck!
