Pervert Targets Young Girls on Fifth Ave. in Park Slope

UPDATE: The NY Daily News is reporting that a suspect is in custody, thanks to a good samaritan who spotted him early Wednesday morning:

The 40-year-old Brooklyn resident spotted the groper early Wednesday, after remembering him from an assault on a police officer two days earlier.

The man stopped the suspect and demanded to see his ID.

The creep complied and the good Samaritan then took a photo of the ID and gave it to police, who tracked down the suspect at his home a short time later, sources said.

Well, this news just fucking sucks. CBS New York reported last night that in four separate incidents, a man has been approaching tween girls in Park Slope and "groping them or pinching their backsides." All of the girls are under the age of 12, and all of the incidents have occurred in the late afternoon -- probably as the girls were heading home from middle school -- and in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue between Fourth and 11th Streets.

At 3:40 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, an undercover detective saw a man who fit the description of the suspect at a bus stop in the area, but he fought back as she attempted to arrest him and got away, leaving her with a bruised arm and a dislocated shoulder. Fortunately, a surveillance camera caught an image of the dirtbag, as seen above. There is also this police sketch of the suspect:

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-8477 or to submit a tip online at NYPDCrimeStoppers.com. All communications are kept confidential.
