Park Slope's About To Get All BBQ-Y
Park Slope is about to get its barbecue ON.
The owners of Palo Santo, one of my favorite off-the-beaten-path brunch spots, are opening a new joint next week called Fort Reno Provisions, which will be located at 669 Union (at 4th Avenue). According to NY Eater, they'll sell whole hog pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and other specialties by the pound. All meat will come from Heritage Foods.
Here's Park Slope also reports that the joint will offer vegetarian options as well. Sides will include macaroni and cheese, collard greens, coleslaw, and plenty of veggies. In addition, their meat will be hickory smoked and yes, there will be booze, beer, delivery and take-out!
They won't be the only new place selling smoky meat -- a barbecue chain restaurant plans to open just one block away. Dinosaur Barbecue, which has a few locations peppered around the state of New York, will open at 604 Union sometime in the distant future. Word on the street is that neither restaurant owner is worried about the competition. I double dog dare them to compete in a BBQ showdown!
