Park Slope Breaks the Seal on New Curbed Video Series

Last Thursday CurbedNY launched a new video series called Neighborhood Crashers. The idea is simple: Go around and ask actual residents what they think of their own neighborhoods. Park Slope had the honor of riding shotgun and so the series host Will Garre walked down the streets of our hood asking Slopers to give the blogosphere their honest feedback. Like taking candy from a shaken baby right? Take a look for yourself.

Brokelyn thought that the "fidgety mom" stole the show shaking her kid around like a dry martini throughout the entirety of her interview. I'll admit her insights were definitely a bit off-color: "If you really want to understand this neighborhood you should totally go into the grocery stores because they are disgusting!" Whaaa? Does that mean our Park Slope on a whole is disgusting? Confused. She did go onto say that if you wanted to get any decent food in the Slope you had to go to the Coop. But then you would have to deal with that "whole weird culture."

When asked what they'd change about the Slope one resident said he'd wish it was more diverse both financially and racially while another said getting rid of alternate side of the street parking (didn't we try that once?). Fidgety mom said the process of getting kids into the schools.

Otherwise the video was peppered with mentions of strollers, families, liberals, vegans and gentrification. Pretty much par for the course.

What would you say if Mr. Garre came up to you on the street and asked you to talk about Park Slope?
