P-Stew's Wedded Park Slope Bliss

pic via New York Daily News

Just read this and tell me it doesn't make you salivate:

Are you sure you don’t need a sweatshirt?” Sir Patrick Stewart asks as he tucks into his own gray hoodie. The actor, of Star Trek: The Next Generation and X-Men fame, is seated on the roof of his Park Slope duplex drinking Champagne. His wife, the singer Sunny Ozell, sits nearby. “Cheers, big ears,” she toasts. The two wed a week earlier at a ceremony in Lake Tahoe. Sir Ian McKellen, Stewart’s longtime friend and co-star in an upcoming Broadway repertoire of Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, served as the officiant. Guests included the entire crew of the Starship Enterprise.

I mean, big hearts in my eyes right now. Can we have a moment to break down why this is awesome?

  1. Patrick Stewart in a gray hoodie.
  2. Sunset on Patrick Stewart's Park Slope Roof.
  3. His new wife calling him "big ears."
  4. His adorable concern for the comfort of the Vulture/NY Mag reporter from which that except came from.
  5. Um Sir Ian McKellen officiated their wedding ceremony in Lake Tahoe.
  6. Both men are going to be in Waiting for Godot. (DISCLAIMER: I'm kinda wanted to be a playwright so I   went through a huge Theater of the Absurd phase from about 1996-2000. I'm totally out of it now in case anyone is concerned)
  7. The entire cast of the Starship Enterprise (D) was at his wedding!!!!!

This guy is the ultimate in 73 year old coolness and again (not that it isn't beaten over our heads all the time) he lives in our neighborhood. By choice. And he loves it here! Look how fondly he speaks of the Slope:

'I always thought if I lived in New York, I’d live in Manhattan, of course. And there are times when I get a little wistful,' says Stewart. 'But by the time I get off the subway here and walk back up Fourth Avenue, I am at ease and at home.'

And behind every great man is the much younger Brooklyn waitress he meets while dining at Franny's five years prior. Her name is Sunny Ozell and Stewart did a quadruple take the night of their meeting. "Her buns are the best," so said the Knight.  Stewart credits her with keeping him bolder and more dangerous. Ozell was the one who convinced him to tweet the picture of his first slice of pizza at Smiling.

Also can I just mention again that the crew of the Enterprise (D) was at her wedding. A girl can definitely dream.

Aces all around for Sir Patrick and his wife. I wish all the wedded happiness that Park Slope continues to offer to them. And if by chance they read FIPS (I'm sure they don't) I will make them a great old-school Italian dinner complete with wine and fawn all over them all night. I promise I'll bring a sweatshirt!
