NYC Updates Hurricane Evacuation Zones
It has come to our attention that NYC has a new take on evacuation zones, having just released version 2.0. Previous zones fell into categories A, B, and C -- a.k.a. Better Build an Ark, Oh Shit! The Roof is Leaking and “I’m not scared because I’m in Zone C." In addition to encompassing more areas, the zones have been renamed 1-6. Hopefully you aren’t easily confused or at least weren’t paying attention during that bitch, Sandy.
Park Slope is still fairly in the clear, though the majority of 4th and 5th Aves fall in Zones 5 or 6. Here’s an easy way to remember:
Most of 5th is in Zone 5,
Move your ass and stay alive.
Some of 5th is in Zone 6,
If water rises don’t be dicks.
Many New Yorkers didn’t heed the warning last time around and found themselves in precarious situations. There’s nothing funny about that FIPSters! These zones have been put in place for good reason. It may seem inconvenient but it’s for the safety of you and the ones you love. You know what’s truly inconvenient? Floating the fuck away.
Be safe, people!
