MTA Buses Are Running on Limited Schedule; Subway Will Take Longer

Though most of us in the Slope have been able to get outside to view the damage to the neigborhood today, chances are we won't be traveling too far from home over the next few days.

The NYC subway systems have been shut down since 7PM Sunday night and, earlier today, Mayor Bloomberg esimated that it would be at least “three to four days until ConEd and the subways are running,” noting that it could take 5 days before the MTA becomes fully functional again. The subway lines will open in stages, so expect to hop from different trains and buses to get around once lines are back up and running. In short: plan for potentially long-ass commutes.

If you have to get around via public transportation, buses are running on limited schedules starting at 5PM today, and will offer free rides through tomorrow.
