Cool or Very Cool: FiPS Animated by Taiwanese?

For the past few weeks we have been diligently chronicling the saga of Parks Department Urban Park Ranger Andrew Marsala (well, technically we’ve been reblogging and adding sarcasm, but that’s just semantics).

Earlier this month, Marsala was taking kids on a park tour when he saw a man masturbating in the bushes. He chased down and apprehended the pervert until the cops came. Not only was this perv rubbing one out in public around children, he also had a loaded gun and a bag of weed.

Shameless Plug: The Soundtrack Series Is Happening Tonight !

Hey, you: lover of storytelling, music and bars. Looking for something fun and free to do tonight? The Soundtrack Series is a live storytelling event centered entirely around the art of la musique. Dana Rossi, host, creator and music nerd, invites writers to share a story that centers on a particular song in their lives.

What the fuck does this have to do with Park Slope?

I'll be there telling a story about the time I boarded an empty 6 train at rush hour, only to have the conductor come over the loudspeaker, tell me it was a train with no destination and then serenade me with Olivia Newton John's "I Honestly Love You." I'd love to see some of you FiPS readers out there tonight so we can have a drink and for once talk about anything other than Park Slope!

The Soundtrack Series will be held tonight at (le) Poisson Rouge (158 Bleeker Street). Doors @ 7PM, Show @ 8PM. FREE!

Anne Hathaway is engaged to some Park Slope guy

Breaking news, fellow Park Slopians! Anne Hathaway is getting married! Apparently he’s a decent guy—quite a stretch from her last thieving bastard of an ex -- they’ve lived together in his Park Slope pad for a year and have already adopted a dog together. Totally fool proof.

According to Hathaway, via Sheknows.com, they’ve known each other since 2008 and hit it off back then, but never got together because they both thought the other had significant others. The fact that they both didn’t think to ask if they were spoken for gives them even more compatibility points!

Terrace Bagel Employee Effed: Pays for Health Inspection Aftermath Costs, No OT

photo by Anthony Lanzilote via The NY Daily News

Being a resident of Windsor Terrace for nigh-on 10 years, I find that few things make me excited in this hood (that's why I spend most of my time in Park Slope). But Terrace Bagels is one of those few things. I know most Windsor Terracians prefer Connecticut Muffin because they're nicer and the line isn't confusing, but I always liked my bagels with abuse. It's recently come to light that the owner of this Windsor Terrace mainstay may be abusing his employees. Or so says Michael Bergamaschi, the former Terrace Bagels employee who often served me my multi-grain bagel with low-fat veggie cream cheese.

Mr. Bergamaschi was allegedly fired because he complained to the TB owner about having his wages garnished to help foot Board of Health violations costs. That's right: when Terrace Bagels was given a B grade on it's inspection this September, it was also cited with 27 violations including such tasty things as evidence of mice and flies. The owners claimed that is was the employees fault and, according to Bergamaschi, took $25 out of the paychecks of all the counter workers and $50 from the kitchen workers to help cover the cost of the fine.
