Marty, You Sooo FINE-ed!

by Stefano Giovanni via The Brooklyn Paper

Oh Marty, sometimes I think you make this just a little bit too easy. Once again, Mr. Markowitz has been a bad boy, and this time he's been fined for it! On Monday, a city ethics panel ruled that the Borough President had "abused his government position" by taking his wife Jamie for three overseas trips on the city's dime. His punishment: a $20,000 fine. Although the Prez himself is entitled to a business-related trip with his expenses paid, a plus-one is not allowed unless he plans to pays for her expenses. Well, Marty didn't feel like he had to do any such thing because Jaime is "the First Lady of Brooklyn." Silly Marty, Trix are for kids.

Let's hear some more craziness from your own mouth (via The New York Post)

I'm not a dummy. I understand what a conflict is...I didn't abuse my position. What they're saying is they don't recognize my role (in promoting the city and Brooklyn) beyond the borders of Brooklyn. They don't believe my wife has any role and they're wrong. You go to Europe, other countries, being borough president Brooklyn is a big thing there.

Oh yeah, when I travel abroad I use the Brooklyn Borough Prez line all the time and I get tons of free stuff (Merci for all those free Nutella crepes, France!). The Post also reported he's going to "pay the goddamn fine." HOTT! You kiss your wife with that mouth, Post?

Lastly, you FIPSters will be SHOCKED to find out that this is not Marty's first offense. In February he was fined $2K because he used a staff member at a closing for his personal home in Windsor Terrace.

Makes you wonder when that true-blue bike lane affidavit will come around to bite him in the ass?
