It's Time to Shop Brooklyn!
"I would never join the Peace Corp or the miltary or be any kind of politican or anything, but I do shop local." - A girl in a popular Park Slope coffee shop, just yesterday.
Shop Brooklyn is back, everyone! As of yesterday, the campaign to support shopping at local retailers, especially those affected by Hurricane Sandy, was in full effect, headed up by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Carlo Scissura.
“No matter who you’re shopping for or what you’re looking for, Brooklyn retailers have it all wrapped up,” Markowitz said about the campaign. "Consider frequenting Brooklyn’s small businesses – particularly in communities hardest hit by Sandy – and giving back to those who need it most by making a contribution to the Brooklyn Recovery Fund.”
Find participating retailers HERE, or keep an eye out for the "SHOP BROOKLYN" decal in store windows. Some places are even offering discounts just for shopping local.
