Ice Skating (falling on ice) Returns to Prospect Park this Winter!

People of Park Slope! Sharpen your skates and bring out your bejeweled leotards, ice skating in Prospect Park is back! Well, it’s August, but it will be back by the time you’re angry it’s so damn cold again. Just bookmark this page and pull it up in December. You’re welcome.

A mere year behind schedule and a cool $74 million spent, and the 26-acre Lakeside development in Prospect Park will be open for business by year's end.  It’s been a long time coming for space that previously housed the old Wollman Rink, as the project marks the first major renovation in the park in nearly 50 years.   With 30,000 square-feet of ice rinks and all sorts of amenities, the space will feature both an outdoor and a year-round indoor rink for all the Salchows and triple loops your heart desires.

Not into ice? No sweat, just stop by in the summer time when the covered rink serves as a roller rink and the uncovered rink transforms into a water playground.  Bravo, Lakeside! Looks like the babies and roller derby lovers of the Slope are going to be quite pleased with the makeover.

Hours of operation are still TBD, but rest assured you’ll being be seeing a Zamboni and a lot of tragic skating fails this winter.  Fingers crossed for a Jonny Weir spotting or epic skate battle. Stay tuned to the park’s website for updated info.
