I Can't Fucking Believe it: NYC Doesn't Even Make Most Obscene City List

I was shocked and appalled to read that New York isn't even close to being the country's most potty-mouthed city. Business Insider has taken to doing an annual survey of the nation's top ten obscene burgs by typing George Carlin's seven dirty words into Google Trends and scoring the cities that come up. Their list:

1. Ashburn, VA. Huh? "The 90,000-person suburb was in the news recently as the hometown of Farooque Ahmed, who was charged with assisting in planning a terrorist attack on D.C.'s metro system."

2. Tampa, FL

3. Herndon, VA. The little city that could, "Herndon was one of the two cities to place in six of the seven top ten lists. This D.C. suburb placed number one on last year's list."

4. Rochester, NY

5. Irvine, CA. Also 4th best place to live and lowest crime capital. who knew?

6. Newark, NJ

7. Philadelphia, PA

8. Louisville, KY

9. Pittsburgh, PA

10. Los Angeles, CA

We're obviously more buttoned down than I give us credit for in the big Apple. This may explain why my mother threatens to wash my mouth out with soap for this gig.

According to commenter Nick, FIPS is on the road to emotional wellbeing:

"Latest scientific research of cursing has found that saying swear words decreases people's feeling of physical pain. And cursing probably works the same way to decrease people's mental pain too, like when they lose a lot of money for example.

Which means that swearing and cursing is a effective coping strategy. It's better to swear a lot to relieve the stress, when your mortgage goes underwater and your bank forecloses on you."

Anyway, I demand a recount!
