Hey look! A map of celebrities who live in Park Slope (Except they probably don't)!

We here at FIPS have made no secret about the fact that we love a good celebrity sighting in the 'hood. So when Gothamist linked to apartment rental search site Rentenna's star map of Manhattan and a little slice of Brooklyn, I jumped to see which famous Slopers made the cut.

And that's when I saw it: Anne Hathaway, Nick Lachey, Vanessa Minnillo, and Steve Buscemi.

What the what?

Listen, Rentenna. I don't mean to be all whatever about this, but you're a little off here. Sure, you were right about Steve Buscemi. He's Park Slope Royalty. But despite what we said back then, Anne Hathaway technically lives in Gowanus. And I'm almost positive Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo do not live in Park Slope. Believe me -- this is something I would know. I spent two hours yesterday stalking the area around The Good Wife filming because I love a good celebrity sighting (If I'm wrong about Nick and Vanessa, tell me immediately because I have a serious supply of 98 Degrees merchandise that needs signing).

You almost have to wonder how Retenna did their research. A simple FIPS search would have given them just about everyone they needed. I mean, how could they miss the first couple of Park Slope, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard? Or John Turturro? Or Damian Young? And what about my favorite Park Sloper, John Hodgman? Surely he'd have made the cut!

The funny thing about this whole thing is that Rentenna created said aformentioned celebity map as a way to advertise their apartment search enginge, which rolls price, value, amenities, user complaints, and more up into a searchable "Rentenna Score." Of course, the inaccuracies in the map (and I'm just talking about Park Slope, since I don't care enough to research the rest of it), makes me wonder how accurate their site's search is. To be fair, Rentenna's still in Beta. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll work out those kinks. But get it together guys!
