Hey, everybody! Let's all raise money to help feral cats and stray dogs!

Okay, so there's this little black cat that's taken up residence in the bushes right in front of my house, and it is driving my dogs bat-shit fucking crazy.  Seriously.  Our dogs will be sitting near the window, enjoying the view and minding their own business, when suddenly this little black head pops out of the bushes like a periscope, and immediately, they all start screaming, barking and howling like they've been set on fire or something.

So, I found out about this organization called Brooklyn Animal Action.  They're a really terrific group that aims to help homeless animals, by either adopting them to good homes, or (in the case of feral felines), by operating a trap-neuter-return ("TNR") program.

I've already got my trap, actually.  You can buy them on Amazon.  But once I trap my first hissing ball of fur, what am I gonna do about it? Huh? What? WHAT!?!

Um, I don't know, actually.  But I'm betting BAA can help me if I go to their fundraiser and learn more about them.

If you're into animal welfare, or you just like trapping animals for sport (in a humane way, of course), you should come, too!  BAA is having their second annual Party for Paws Fundraiser for Rescue Animals.  It'll be held on Tuesday, September 17 at Stone Park Café on 5th Ave. (use the 3rd St. entrance) from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

There will be locally sourced food, and artisanal booze. There will be animal-themed trivia. There will be a silent auction. And most importantly, there will be the opportunity to browse a brochure of adoptable animals and to find out more about how you can foster or adopt an animal in need.

Tickets start at $50 per guest, and all proceeds benefit BAA's animal rescue efforts. For tickets and information, click right here
