HERE'S PARK SLOPE: THE BATTLE OF THE PET STORES
On Monday, construction began in earnest at the soon-to-be best butcher shop in Brooklyn, an outpost of the celebrated Fleisher's Meats, opening soon on Fifth near Union. Also, Sushi Tatsu, the Japanese/Thai restaurant on Flatbush near Seventh, shut down.
Tuesday brought word that the chicken-centric restaurant on the corner of Sixth and St. Marks had opened the night before, and their offerings are very photogenic. We also got a peek, courtesy of Zagat, at the menu former Top Chef contestant has in store for his restaurant Kiwiana, coming soon to Union Street.
On Wednesday I noticed that an unauthorized, yet awesome, Mac repair shop is coming to Fifth Avenue in the North Slope. NYC Pet also took it upon themselves to send a little message, via their window, to the big-box Petco that opened last month.
Thursday brought some seriously exciting news for anyone interested in hats: a top of the line hat store will be opening up next door to Bierkraft pretty soon, and should complement all the vintage shops around there very nicely.
Finally, on Friday longtime North Slope holdout Adelina Nail and Hair Salon was forced out to make way for a higher-paying tenant, for most likely a Barclays-related reason. Also, ever wonder what the biggest steak in the Slope is?
