Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now...Because Morrissey Cancelled At Barclays
Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head.
That’s probably how Morrissey fans in Brooklyn feel right now, like they’re being buried alive, after Morrissey canceled his June 21st concert at the Barclay’s Center, citing a continuing respiratory infection. Great opportunity to get your mope on, Moz-heads. Of course if you’re a true Smiths fans, you’ve been moping good and proper since 1987, when the band ruined your life split up.
But guys! Don’t despair (more than usual)! The Sons & Heirs, a Smiths cover band – I’m sorry, tribute band -- is putting on something they call “Morrissey Barclays Center Afterparty” at Union Hall the night Morrissey was scheduled to perform. Think about it -- it might be just as good! Because you get to sing along with Smiths songs in an intimate Park Slope setting AND feel full of despair that you’re not singing along with Morrissey songs in a giant sports and entertainment complex next to Park Slope. That's so Morrisey, see?
And then, you know, the next day, if it’s nice outside, spend a warm summer day indoors, writing frightening verse, and mope about what could've been.
