FIVE GUYS INFILTRATES; SWEETWOLF'S WANTS YOUR MENU SUGGESTIONS!

There is a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks, and ladies and gentlemen, THAT is the end of the universe. - Lewis Black

I'm aware of how dated this reference is, but it's how I feel about the new Five Guys coming to Park Slope, which will be housed not far from the OTHER Five Guys in the neighborhood. The burger joint will be moving into the old Park Heights Stationers & Copy, which was located on Park and Flatbush for 25 years.

Via Park Slope Patch:

Local merchants weren't surprised that yet another franchise would replace the neighborhood staple – fewer and fewer independent store owners seem to be able to afford ever-increading neighborhood rents.

Sharon Davidson, executive director of the North Flatbush Business Improvement District said she believed the store’s rent rose from about $16,000 to $22,000 before it closed. According to a sign left by the owners on the gate, the shop closed due to “the rising cost of operation.

In other news Sweetwolf's, which will be opening soon on the corner of 6th Ave and 12th street, is curious to know what you want to see on their menu! Jump on their Facebook page to give your recommends. If they choose your dish you'll be invited for a free tasting of the creation paired with some beer or wine.

Here are a few favored dishes listed on the FB page:

  • Love, love, love a good octopus tentacle. Grilled with lemon. Perfection
  • Tuna with swiss chard, chickpeas, and harissa is a great combination of flavors.
  • A roasted root veg salad with golden beets, parsnips, carrots, and avocado over arugula with a killer balsamic vinaigrette
  •  A great Sunday Roast served with Yorkshire puddings and oven roasted potatoes is the way to go.

I'll do Sweetwolf's and everyone else a favor by not recommending my pretzel and cream cheese sandwich.
