FiPS Hero: Subway Grope Victim Beats Shit Out Of Attacker
I’ve never been inappropriately groped on the subway before. Never witnessed some dude touching himself while watching me read The Hunger Games. Never had someone “accidentally” grab on to my crotch instead of the pole when the train stops short. Never had some creep try and take pictures of me with his camera phone. As a dude, these things just don’t tend to happen to me.
But for you ladies out there, I realize that these sorts of things happen to you all the time, which is why we should all take a moment to give 22-year-old Shyane DeJesus a goddamned standing ovation.
Here’s what happened. On October 23rd around 9:50 a.m., DeJesus was standing on the platform at Union Square, waiting for the downtown 6 train to take her to work. She leaned over the track to check and see if the train was coming, and some creep snuck up on her and started rubbing himself all up in her business. Then, as the train arrived, he pushed her head down, lifted her skirt up, and groped her. And just as the train doors opened, he walked onto the train and sat down as if nothing could happen.
Totally fucked up, right? But that’s when DeJesus popped off on the motherfucker.
“I kicked him in the face,” DeJesus told The NY Post. “I literally started punching him in the head.” Right there on the downtown 6 train!! Just knocking the shit out of him!!! Amazing, right? No one came to her aid, of course (fuck you, New York City!). But after her smack down, she snapped a picture of the perv and got off at the next stop. “Don’t you ever!” she screamed at him as she left. The whole time, the dude just sat there and smirked. “He never said a word, not a word,” DeJesus said. “All I got was that smirk.”
Cops are still searching for the asshole. And with the photo DeJesus took, I hope they find him. I realize this isn't Park Slope news, but after all of the sexual attacks that have been happening around these parts, it's surely worth mentioning. And I'm glad to see that y’all aren’t afraid to kick someone in the face. Bravo Shyane DeJesus. Bravo.
