FIPS Cares: Hope For Brooklyn
Holy Shit, I was just chased down Garfield by Tracy Flick. I signed her petition to get her on the ballot for "female district leader."
I will def be voting for her come November, if only because her bio says "when she was a senior at Hunter College High School, she brought a suit against then Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for illegal military recruitment tactics."
And there is that awesome photo above. God, I want her to unbutton a few buttons on that blue oxford.
Also, I will be voting for Hope for her forward-thinking in buying up that domain name (hopeforbrooklyn.com) when she was still in kindergarten.
I would have sworn that TF/Hope was no more than fifteen at most. Her mom was with her.
But, as she informed me, you have to be old enough to vote to run for office. She's 21 in case you were wondering.
Vote for Tracy! I mean... Hope! And change!

Dear Allison,
Dear, dear Allison. Oh, Allison.
Yes, Hope is just as cute as a wee bug. And I'm sure she's just delightful. And yes, Daddy is a noted judge with a fine reputation.
But little Hope, (and her partner, Steve Williamson,) are running for District Leader at the behest and with the sponsorship of County Leader Vito Lopez.
That doesn't make them bad people, mind you. But it DOES make them beholden to the Kings County machine, hardly a reformist organization, and one with a reputation for corruption and stuffing our public offices and courtrooms with less-than-qualified persons.
In fact, Vito is running little Hope with the express purpose of marginalizing incumbent District Leader Jo Anne Simon. Why? Because Jo Anne has stood up to Vito when he has tried to appoint to office incompetent loyalists, and nominate for the bench judges whose only qualification is raising the requisite amount of money for Vito. (I do NOT include Hope's dad, Judge Gus Reichbach, in that crowd; he's a fine man.)
Allison, do the people of Brooklyn a favor and vote for Jo Anne Simon and Jesse Strauss on September 14th. Trust us on this one.
